Following a series of tests at Nürburgring, tuning specialist Mountune is reportedly working on the first upgrade kit for the Ford Focus RS.
Although much hasn’t been revealed at this point, it is believed that the vehicle will receive a number of intriguing upgrades, including more power.
According to reports, the vehicle will receive new OZ Racing Leggera HLT wheels, which are much lighter compared to the brand’s own wheel which the vehicle currently comes with. In fact each will is reportedly 2.8kg lighter, bringing down the car’s overall weight considerably.
On top of that, the new wheels are said to be wider, giving the car extra stability and improving its handling in the process.
The car’s intake system is also reportedly being worked on. It’s going to be more rigid due to the use of wire-reinforced parts rather than the standard plastic.
Although, Mountune refused to reveal details regarding the car’s improved power, it’s believed the vehicle will be more powerful compared to the standard RS.
This is only the first of many upgrade kits planned for the Focus RS. According to various reports a power upgrade package has already been signed off and approved, however it won’t be revealed until after the first upgrade is rolled out.
The Ford Focus RS is already a pretty solid car so an upgrade can only make it better. Let’s not forget that the standard Focus is one of the best-selling vehicles currently on the market, so the brand is clearly doing something right.
Only time will tell what exactly the brand has in store for us in the future, however we’re very much excited to find out. We will likely get all the details about the upgrade in the near future so all we can do right now is wait.
